In her exhibition, Carmen Brucic presents a photographic exploration of a private living space. In 2017 she visited the apartment of the artist Wolfram Köberl, who had moved to a retirement home. She found traces of a love of painting as the centre of a counter-world that Köberl had built himself in the course of his life as a place of refuge, a parallel universe. Brucic’s art is more than just an attempt at reconstructing a life on the basis of the items that surrounded it. It raises wide ranging questions, for example about atmospheres of absence or about what it means to come into contact with an abandoned private sphere.
